Hellpoint is a third-person action role-playing game in which the player controls a nameless humanoid stranded on the derelict space station Irid Novo. The player must battle vicious creatures to solve the mystery of the events that occurred there. The station orbits a massive black hole, and its position relative to the black hole influences the strength of enemies. The game features light and strong attacks, an evade mechanic, and a healing gauge that refills by dealing damage to monsters, with up to two healing injections storable.
